Connecting Everyone in Africa

Background

We. was tasked with executing a multimarket stakeholder campaign across Africa for Vodacom, Vodafone and Safaricom to showcase how technology can connect millions of people for a better tomorrow by telling real, human impact stories.

The Approach: Maintain Narrative Storytelling Consistency Across Africa

Providing a united voice across disparate markets and platforms required us to find stories that could be adapted to different local markets and still resonate. This wasn’t a simple task; how do you make connections with the unconnected? Given the digital divides across the continent, reaching people living in remote and rural areas was a challenge. But we made it happen. We joined video calls with a smallholder farmer in Kenya to witness how drone technology improved efficiency across his farm and spoke to children attending their school classes remotely during COVID lockdowns, enabling us to tell important, powerful stories of connection.

The Impact: Partnerships for change

Following on 3,000+ pieces of pan-African coverage from the campaign, different businesses and stakeholders started commenting on our LinkedIn posts and requesting information on next steps. The frequency of these queries drove us to create a dedicated email alias to channel stakeholder requests to get involved. Since then, critical partnerships and engagements have emerged from the Africa.Connected campaign to help address the digital divide in Africa.

“We. has been instrumental in helping us draft emotive impact and human-interest stories that resonate across media and social channels. Its expertise in crafting compelling narratives has significantly amplified our message and showcased the transformative power of our initiatives.”
